Central Park is Americas most visited urban parks. The park has a total of 843 acres and is located in Mid-Manhattan. Annually the park has about 37.5 million visitors.

Throughout the park there are many walking and cycling paths. Inside the Park they have a birdhouse which has many different bird types living there, there is a boathouse cafe and there is also the option to rent kayaks and row boats on this lake. There are many different horse carriage trips you can take. I took a horse drawn carriage trip around the park and thoroughly enjoyed it. I was told many different things about the park and brought through a very pretty scenic route. I found the whole park to be quite pretty and scenic actually.

Many sports take place in the Park. There is a park drive route which is just over 6 miles and cyclists, runners, joggers and in-line skaters all come in the hundreds every week to this route. There are also numerous amount of Baseball fields, volley ball and tennis courts, and also croquet and lawn bowling in the Park. The park also has rock climbing and an ice skating rink which is opens in the winter and is changed to an outdoor swimming pool in summer.

In the Park there is a total of 21 playgrounds. The largest playground has a huge land total of 3 acres. There is a zoo located in the park also 'Central Park Zoo'. It is home to an indoor forest, a leafcutter ant colony, a penguin house and also a Polar bear pool.

Central Park is such a beautiful setting that hundreds of movies have one or more scene shot in the park. So if you're interested in seeing your favourite actor sit on a park bench and you may one day just be in luck! Films such as Remember me, The Avengers, Enchanted, The other Woman, Elf, The backup plan, Maid in Manhattan, Hitch, The Devil wears Prada, Spider man 3, 13 going on 30, the list is honestly endless.

Central Park is definitely such a beautiful park and if in New York I wouldn't miss your chance to see it.

Hotels and Restaurants in NYC

Hotels

There's over a thousand hotels in the City of New York. This is for the masses of amount of tourists they receive annually.

I'd recommend staying in a nice hotel when in New York, well when going anywhere as it adds to the enjoyment of the trip knowing you've somewhere nice to go back to everyday.

When on my trip in New York I stayed at the New York Marriott Marquis hotel. It is located at 1535 Broadway, New York City which is right on Times Square. I had a wonderful time at this hotel and would recommend it to anyone travelling to NYC. The staff were very helpful and the rooms and breakfast was amazing. Unfortunately, we never ate dinner in the hotel as we always tried to stay out and about and seeing new things so I couldn't give on opinion on that.
The rooms were of a great size with two double beds, a large bathroom, a large plasma TV, desks and drawers. We also had a great view of the city which I enjoyed.
Every morning, I couldn't wait to get up and start a new day with one of the Marriot's breakfasts. They served it in buffet style and had everything you could possibly want.
The huge hotel had a total of 49 floors and the 49th floor being a revolving bar/restaurant. You wouldn't even notice you're moving but slowly you're seeing the city from all different angles.
I definitely had a great stay and would recommend it to all!

A famous luxurious hotel in NYC is The Plaza Hotel.
The Plaza Hotel is recognised world wide and being one of New Yorks most famous 5 star hotels it has provided years of outstanding services and care. The Plaza Hotel first opened up in 1907. It is located at the top of 5th Avenue facing Central Park so it is a greatly located hotel. When in New York I got to experience the Plaza Hotel. I went to the Plaza's underground food hall which is a floor of a wide range of all sorts of food cultures and types. I had a famous lunch there and a lovely experience.

Restaurants

Annisa is an Asian restaurant located in NYC. The restaurant is actually owned by an award winning chef named Anita Lo. She offers a first class cuisine service and her restaurant has been highly rated 4.6 out of 5 stars. The restaurant is located in the beautiful Greenwich village. Anita Lo is inspired to cook beautiful foods by her Asian roots, her travels and her classic French technique.

A famous pizzeria in NYC would be Lombardi's Pizzeria. It was pronounced the city's most famous pizzeria and has been open since 1905. The small tight place creates a great Italian atmosphere with its checked table cloths and black and white pictures hanging on their painted brick walls. Lombardi's is quite a cheap and cheerful place; you'd be looking at about $20/30 worth of pizzas and drinks that would suit 3-4 people. Their coal oven thin crusted pizza is said to be the best by many throughout Manhattan.
A quick WARNING. With all these great reviews flying around you could be waiting a while to get a table, you could have to wait up to an hour on a busy night.

Shopping in NYC

New York is a very popular city for shopping. Whether it's clothes shopping, electrical goods, cosmetics or nearly anything at all, you can find it in NYC. A very well known street for shopping is 5th avenue, it has many shops including GAP, Tiffanys, American girl, Juicy Couture, NIKE, Zara, H&M, Diesel, Abercrombie & Fitch and Hollister.

Another popular area for shopping in NYC is Soho. Soho was one of my favourite areas in NYC when I visited last year. I found it very quaint, cute and picturesque. I also thought it was excellent for shopping. In Soho there is many, many shops, some of my favourites were UGG, Topshop, American Apparel, Beats, Converse, Victoria Secrets, PINK and MAC.

Another reason why NYC is very popular for shopping is because a lot of tourists go mad with buying as for some currencys their is a very good exchange rate to the doller and items then are a lot cheaper in the US. A great time to go shopping in New York is at Christmas time, the city is lit up in lights, there's a possible chance of snow, the famous Rockerfeller and Central Park ice rink is open and also there's hundreds of shops to buy presents.

Another popular attraction for tourists visiting New York would be The Statue of Liberty. It was dedicated to NYC on October 28, 1886 from France. It has had a total of three restorements. Because of the 9/11 attacks the Statue of Liberty was closed immediatley and ever since the crown has remained closed. Near the end of 2001 the Island re-opened for visitors. A propular option is to get a ferry to Staten Island and you can pass by and view the Statue of Liberty this way. Other options are getting a ferry to Liberty Island where the Statue is located or getting a helicopter trip around the island.
